Not only did we supply the refrigerated cabinets to Kavanagh's new Budgens store in Eton we also completed the complete refrigeration and air conditioning installation.

"I am truly excited about opening the doors of our new state-of-the-art store, something the Eton community can be proud of."
Noel Kavanagh Jr.

The refrigerated cabinets were manufactured by, our Polish partners, JBG-2 to the Musgrave specification. By carrying out the complete installation we can ensure the refrigeration plant is designed and installed to get the very best performance from the refrigerated cabinets.

The multi-deck cabinets are JBG-2's RDK-16 model. We supplied them both with and without double-glazed doors. Fitting the doors has a significant effect on the energy consumption and is one of the easiest ways for a retailer to reduce their refrigeration energy bill.

The RDK-16 is also listed on the UK Government's Energy Technology List, allowing purchasers to set 100% of the cost against taxable profits in a single year, giving an additional benefit.

As well as full height multi-deck cabinets we supplied a low-level RDK-15 multi-deck island. The lower height allows shoppers to see across the store and gives a great impression of space while still providing a surprisingly large display area. Matched with the grey ceramic floor tiles it gives the store a airy contemporary feel.

The refrigeration plant has been designed using refrigerant R407F, which has a lower environmental impact than more traditional refrigerants and is suitable for long-term use under current legislation. We always aim to keep energy consumption to a minimum, it's important to our customers and benefits the environment. The refrigeration pack has been designed with a number of smaller compressors so we're only running what's required to match the refrigeration load.

As with many town centre sites there was no outside space for the refrigeration plant. Our solution is a design where the only evidence of the plant from the outside is a louvre that matches the contemporary look of the rear of the building.

We're very pleased with the overall result, as is MD of Kavanagh Retailing UK Noel Kavanagh Jr. who said, "I am truly excited about opening the doors of our new state-of-the-art store, something the Eton community can be proud of."
